"Highly Maneuverable" Soil Compactor from Chicago Pneumatic

The new SR 140 soil compactor from Chicago Pneumatic Construction Equipment is designed for compaction operations in variety of applications. It's small size makes it well-suited for repair and refilling work, especially in confined spaces, the company says.

Along with confined-space applications, the machines is highly maneuverable, even on steep slopes. It's paired with a Tier 4 Final Kubota engine that has been cross-mounted for easy service access. The new compactor is suitable for all types of supporting and reinforcement courses, including gravel, sand, silt, clay, and sub-base and base materials.

The SR 140 has low noise and emissions, easy service access and an operator-friendly design, with ergonomically positioned steps, an adjustable seat, a battery disconnector within easy reach, and a lockable storage compartment. Vibration insulation minimizes body and hand vibration to reduce operator fatigue.

Operating in standard ECO-mode not only keeps the SR 140 engine rpm and noise levels low and helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 15 percent. Designed to be convenient for the operator, the soil compactor’s service components can be reached from a standing position from the ground, while a high inlet reduces maintenance by keeping the combustion air clean.
