Volvo's Newest Crawler Excavator
Volvo's EC160E is the newest E-Series crawler excavator and features durable design and a 146 hp Volvo Tier 4 Final D4 engine to improve fuel efficiency without sacrificing power. The excavator shows an 8% improvement in fuel efficiency, and 5% improvement in tractive force and engine power compared to previous-generation models, the company says.
The hydraulic system operates in harmony with the engine, working with a fully electronic control system. Volvo advanced ECO mode helps reduce power loss and improve control and response time. To reduce cycle time, a boom float function allows pump power from boom lowering to be transferred to other functions. Reach is 29-ft 6-in, digging depth is 19-ft. 11-in. and normal bucket breakout force is 25,920 lbf.
The excavator has a reinforced steel ROPS and durable undercarriage. An X-shape lower frame enables even weight distribution. The boom and arm design includes internal plates positioned to support pressure points during a range of applications, dispersing stress from high-pressure areas to ensure maximum productivity.
The Volvo Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty ensures the boom, arm and frame will be covered under warranty for as long as the initial owner keeps the machine.
All machine interfaces, including joysticks, keypad and large LCD monitor, are ergonomically designed for ease of use and optimum efficiency. The number of switches has been reduced and climate control has been integrated into the keypad for easy adjustments. An optional side-view camera can be installed to cover the operator blind spot.
Access to the hydraulic and fuel tanks is convenient, and filters are grouped together and accessible from ground level. Well-positioned punched anti-slip plates provide superior grip and durability for easier, safer access when cleaning. The radiator, charged air cooler and hydraulic oil cooler easily accessed from ground level.
CareTrack telematics provide remote monitoring of machine diagnostics and real-time location.
