Vacuum system streamlines slab removal
M6 Concrete finds customers like the one-person operation.
The SS 2 vacuum lifting system is a 24- by 24-inch vacuum pad and a pump that operates using the auxiliary hydraulics on the host machine. The pump and pad work together to create a powerful positive seal to lift saw-cut concrete, granite and marble slabs, landscape pavers and other types of material out of its location. |
A Kansas-based supplier of materials and equipment with strong ties to the concrete industry is trying a new piece of lifting technology designed to operate in conjunction with skid steers and other host machines.
Andy Munley, who is with M6 Concrete, says the company recently acquired a Vacuworx Global SS 2 vacuum lifting system and reports the attachment is raising eyebrows and has the potential to catch on fast among rental customers in search of an innovative material lifting solution.
“M6 Concrete’s emphasis on using the right tools and equipment help assure the timely completion of every job,” says Munley. The company offers a full line of rental equipment intended to meet the diverse needs of homeowners and commercial contractors during each stage of any given project.

The pump and pad work together to create a powerful positive seal to lift saw-cut concrete, granite and marble slabs, landscape pavers and other types of material out of its location. Compatible with all brands of skid steers, the SS 2 was designed to increase efficiency on floor, driveway, sidewalk, road and landscaping projects.
“A customer recently rented and used the SS 2 to pull 40 4- by 4-foot slabs as part of a parking lot replacement job. The contractor was impressed with the system in terms of maneuverability and the potential to save time on the ground,” he says.
“Instead of a guy setting the bolt on the slab and an operator on the machine making the lift, one person can do this job and the other worker can go out and make money doing something else,” he says. “We’re getting great feedback from our customers. The market for vacuum lifting technology will grow as more people see the equipment in action.”
