Product Focus:
Rough-terrain telehandlers
SmartLoad technology
JLG Industries Inc. adds the 1644 and 1732 telehandlers with 15,600 and 16,750 pounds of lift capacity. They are its first telehandlers in the high-capacity category and its first North American telehandlers to offer JLG’s SmartLoad technology, which integrates three systems that help operator confidence. First, it can identify the attachment and display its load chart on the cab screen; it graphically depicts the load location on the load chart and works with the unit’s load stability indicator to limit operation if the load moves out of its safe working zone. The units feature JLG’s precision gravity-lowering system that provide precise load control. JLG plans to incorporate this technology throughout its entire line of telehandlers in 2017.

First telehandler model
Snorkel introduces the SR5519, its first telehandler model. It can lift up to a 5,500-pound load and reach heights of up to 19 feet. Competitively priced, sources report it features a spacious cab for operator comfort. A touchscreen offers access to load charts and operation manuals. Powered by a 74-hp. Deutz 2.9-liter diesel engine and hydrostatic drive, the unit has front limited-slip differential as standard to improve traction. Its compact size is ideal for tight job sites or rental applications. It weighs 10,400 pounds unloaded so it can be used on jobs with low floor loadings. It will be available in North America in Q4 2017.

High-reach telehandlers
The Genie GTH-844 high-reach telehandler offers excellent lift capacity and is available with a 74-hp. Tier 4 Final Deutz 3.6L engine, a 99-hp. Tier 4 Final Deutz 3.6L diesel engine or 99-hp. Tier 4 Final Perkins diesel engine. Units come standard with Genie’s Quick-Attach system, low-profile tires, four fenders, lift shackle at the boom tip and a rigging storage compartment in the front of the unit.

9,000 pound lift capacity
The Haulotte HTL9055 telehandler offers 9,000 pounds lifting capacity and can lift up to 5,600 pounds as high as 55 feet. Its Kohler Tier 4 Final diesel engine does not require a DPF after-treatment or DEF additive. It offers up to 20 percent greater fuel savings and noise levels are reduced by 2 dBa. A hydrostatic transmission combines optimal torque, power and speed for unequalled driving comfort, sources report. The full-size cab meets FOPS/ROPS requirements and has an easy-to-use 4-in-1 joystick. The cab also offers 360-degree visibility.

High-visibility telehandler
JCB introduces the 525-60 Hi-Viz Loadall telehandler with standard 4WD for excellent traction and performance in difficult conditions. It’s also available with a limited-slip differential to maximize traction. A high/low transmission allows users to select low speed to meet site speed rules, while high speed is ideal for road travel. A hydrostatic transmission makes maneuvering precise. The driveline works in parallel with the braking system; a transmission dump on the foot brake helps the operator multi-function and have access to increased power during load handling. At just 6 feet 2 inches tall and 6 feet wide, it can work in small spaces. It offers two-wheel steer for travel, four-wheel steer for use in tight spaces, and crab steer to edge closer to or away from obstacles.

Telehandler/skid steer/wheel loader
Wacker Neuson adds the TH627 model that offers three-in-one machine versatility. With a hydraulic universal SSL attachment plate, it can be used with ground-engaging attachments and work like a wheel loader to dig and carry; a skid steer with a compact footprint that can carry an assortment of attachments; and a telehandler with a lift height of 18 feet 7 inches and 5,500 pounds capacity. A Load Management System (LMS) maximizes performance and minimizes tipping by automatically adjusting the position of the load. The unit is powered by a Tier 4 Final, 74-hp. Kohler engine with diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) after-treatment with no diesel particulate filter, no regeneration and no maintenance.

Reduced emissions, easy operation
The Cat TL1055D and TL1255D telehandlers feature the Cat C4.4 ACERT engine that meets Tier 4 Final emission standards, improved sight lines and a wide range of attachments. Their rated lift capacities are 10,000 and 12,000 pounds and have a maximum 55-foot lift height. They feature a 4F/3R power-shift transmission and trunnion-mounted planetary axles for agility and inboard wet-disc brakes for sure stops. A variable-displacement, load-sensing piston pump provides full hydraulic power at all engine speeds for precise load control. The models have the Cat Integrated Toolcarrier quick coupler. The operator’s station has a single electro-hydraulic joystick that controls three simultaneous boom functions, provides an integral transmission-disengage switch and enables fully proportional control of auxiliary hydraulics. The 2WD, 4WD and crab-steering modes can be changed on the go.

Gen:2 telescopic handlers
The Gehl RS9-50 GEN:2 telescopic handler features a 120-hp. Cummins Tier 4 engine, 9,000 pounds of lift capacity and an increased forward reach. It can operate without outriggers and its high ground clearance is excellent for rough terrain performance. It also features enhanced visibility for increased safety and more accurate load placement, and can lift 5,000-pound loads to 50 feet. The Dynattach quick-attach system allows fast attachment changes and its new cab is 20 percent wider and comes with side and rear glass, and brake and back-up lights as standard. Lift design allows operators to land materials at 47 feet high without moving the machine.
