Chicago Pneumatic CPS 185 compressor

Chicago Pneumatic Power Technique has completely redesigned its popular CPS 185 portable compressor unit.


Now available in the U.S., the CPS 185 Kubota is a single-stage oil-injected rotary screw type air compressor.

Portable, powerful and tough, it has several updates including the enclosure, external lifting eye, internal toolbox, fluid containment, controller and compressor service intervals.

Joining the CPS 110 and CPS 250, the CPS 185 features a noise dampening Redrock canopy made out of a heavy, corrosion-free double-polyethylene shell, which dent- and UV-resistant so it can better hold resale value. An internal toolbox can store tools as large as a 90-pound hammer inside the machine.

It can deliver 189 cfm free air delivery burning just 2.37 gallons an hour. A 27-gallon fuel tank delivers more than 11 hours of air at full-load. The 49-horsepower Kubota Tier 4 final-compliant, turbocharged, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled diesel engine a rated speed of 2,700 rpm. The engine is capable of starting the compressor at 14F; cold start options are available to start the unit up to -13F. 

A new spin-on compressor oil separator simplifies maintenance to less than a one-hour service with no special tools. With the cold weather option, compressor service intervals increase from 1,000 hours to 1,500 hours or 2 years.

The new Xc1004 controller controls the ehtire machine. It features a 3.5-inch display and is easy to use. The CPS 185 rides on a heavy-duty single axle, 15-inch tires. Its external lifting eye allows for easy access for getting on and off the jobsite.

The unit comes with a 110 percent spillage-free containment frame.
