It's not every day that a new greenfield opportunity is unveiled. Yet, there is much to discover for those who look beyond the path walked. Some are even closer to home than one may imagine.
Case in point: Brazil and its manufacturers and suppliers.
Known mainly for its beautiful beaches, carnival, and soccer, Brazil is much more than that. The seventh largest economy in the world and the first in South America, the country offers modern manufacturing facilities, good logistics, a stable economy and good relationship with the United States. The country has been a political partner of the United States for the past 40 years in things like agriculture, space exploration, culture and energy, just to name a few.
Brazil is home to giants like Petrobras, the national oil company; Embraer, the third-largest civil airplane manufacturer in the world; WEG, one of the largest electric motor manufacturers globally; and Menegotti Group, the largest mixer manufacturer worldwide.
Menegotti is a hidden jewel of engineering and efficiency, producing more than 6,000 cement mixers monthly. That is around one mixer every three minutes. During a recent visit to the company's main production plant, Scott Place and Darrell Hudson from Lew Hudson Sales saw what the company can offer in person.
"Our industry doesn't deal with any Brazilian manufacturers I can think of. So, the perception of a Brazilian manufacturer is not good or bad. It's just unknown. Menegotti builds more mixers in a single month than a lot of their competitors. That is something our market needs to learn about," Hudson says.
With 85 years of manufacturing experience and a profound story of innovation and quality engineering inspired by the German roots of the company’s family founders, Menegotti has its eyes on the growing American rental market. With products made specifically for the United States, the company, also known as MGT America, has a solid plan for the USA.
In 2018, it opened its first American headquarters, expanding their presence into the rental market through partnerships and hard work. "Our main production plants are very close to the United States from an international logistics standpoint. That is beneficial to our clients and partners as freight costs and time are much reduced compared to other known brands. Also, since we opened our American headquarters, our focus is not only to sell products. We want to use our manufacturing and engineering expertise to bring in products developed specially for the U.S. rental market," says Thiago Sandrini, MGT America sales director.
A good example is MGT's new poly drum line and FastMixer, four new products the company unveiled at the World of Concrete and ARA Show in January and February 2025.
"Our multi-mixer solution, the FastMixer, is built to last. We use 11-gauge steel, twice as durable as the closest competitor. It has a larger capacity and better output out of the box, no accessories needed. Our poly drum mixers are easy to clean, durable, and created with the U.S. rental market in mind. They are designed to return to the yard in the morning and be ready to be rented again in the afternoon. That is why we say our poly drum products are good for rental and great for rentability. We work with our clients to bring the best products to this industry." says Sandrini.
By embracing the new and looking outside the traditional brands, rental companies find reasonable prices, great services, and second-to-none equipment designed for their needs. Also, newcomers, like Menegotti, have a good reputation for going above and beyond and are great to work and partner with.
