Pro Contractor Rentals magazine under new ownership
Urbain Communications, LLC purchases the publication from Direct Business Media, LLC.
(October 15, 2018) Direct Business Media, LLC announced today the sale of its B2B publication Pro Contractor Rentals, and associated web properties, to Urbain Communications, LLC.
Pro Contractor Rentals, The Resource for Businesses Renting to Contractors, is entering its fifth year of operation. It has experienced steady growth year over year.
“We are pleased to be handing over the reins to Clair Urbain and are confident that he will have continued success in serving our readers and advertisers. DBM will publish the Nov./Dec. issue of the magazine and continue maintaining the website and electronic communications for the remainder of 2018 and Urbain Communications will produce its first edition in January 2019,” says Bob Stange, publisher of Pro Contractor Rentals and one of the owners of Direct Business Media.
The American Rental Association (ARA) paints a positive picture for rental activity in the next five years. In its July, 2018 forecast for the construction, industrial equipment and general tool rental segments, the ARA projects U.S. rental revenue in 2018 to reach $53.08 billion, a 7.6 percent increase over 2017. It further projects 5.8 percent growth in 2019, 5.9 percent growth in 2020, 5.1 percent in 2021 and 4.7 percent in 2022, reaching $64.1 billion in revenue.
“This is definitely an active market for equipment and service providers,” says Urbain, owner of Urbain Communications LLC and editor of Pro Contractor Rentals since 2016. “Pro Contractor Rentals can help equipment manufacturers and service providers to reach more than 13,500 rental centers and dealers/distributors whose primary business is renting equipment and tools to contractors.”
The print and digital editions of Pro Contractor Rentals, and website, www.procontractorrentals.com, and the weekly e-newsletter, PCR Weekly, serve an audience of decision makers at independent rental centers and tool and equipment dealer/distributors that focus on renting to professional construction contractors.
“Unlike other publications serving the rental industry, Pro Contractor Rentals concentrates only on equipment and related services of interest to rental centers that concentrate on serving professional construction and industrial customers. There is no party or DIY coverage; just tightly focused editorial that addresses the day-to-day needs of this steadily growing audience,” Urbain says.
Urbain will continue as editor and take on publishing duties. Kari Elbert, a seasoned professional who has been selling ad space in a variety of markets in the Midwest and recently started with Pro Contractor Rentals in a sales position, will assume sales duties. Megan Levake will handle ad administration.
