Battery-electric equipment platform comes to North America

LiuGong brings its globally proven battery-electric construction and material handling portfolio to North America after years of commercial operation worldwide.

LiuGong North America today announced the commercial availability of its battery-electric construction and material handling portfolio, bringing to North America a proven electric platform supported by more than 60,000 battery-electric machines operating globally and validated through millions of operating hours in real-world applications.

Before introducing battery-electric equipment to North America, LiuGong spent more than 15 years proving its technology where it matters most: on working job sites. While the heavy equipment industry continues to expand its adoption of battery-electric machines, LiuGong is introducing a platform refined through multiple generations of deployment across mining, ports, aggregates, tunneling, municipal operations, warehouses, container terminals and construction projects worldwide.

Operational data collected from thousands of working machines has driven continuous improvements in battery performance, charging systems, thermal management, diagnostics, serviceability, and long-term durability. That experience has enabled LiuGong to bring a mature electric platform to North America that has already demonstrated its performance under demanding real-world operating conditions.

One LiuGong battery-electric wheel loader has surpassed 20,000 operating hours in continuous production service — roughly the equivalent of a decade or more of operation for many wheel loaders. Those hours were accumulated on an active job site rather than under controlled testing conditions, providing real-world validation of the platform's durability, productivity, and long-term reliability.

For North American contractors, fleet owners, ports, municipalities and industrial operators, LiuGong's battery-electric portfolio represents a mature, commercially proven platform designed to deliver the performance, uptime, and reliability expected from heavy equipment without requiring customers to become early adopters of first-generation technology.

Available today in North America
LiuGong's initial North American battery-electric portfolio includes the 856HE battery-electric wheel loader, 820TE battery-electric loader, 924FE battery-electric excavator, and LRSE4531E fully electric 45-ton reach stacker, along with a growing range of battery-electric forklifts, warehouse equipment and material handling solutions. This initial lineup marks the beginning of a broader North American rollout, with additional battery-electric products expected throughout 2027 as LiuGong continues expanding and validating its electric equipment portfolio for the region. Together, these machines represent one of the industry's broadest battery-electric equipment portfolios available from a single manufacturer.

Designed around total cost of ownership (TCO)
For most fleet owners, the decision to electrify ultimately comes down to economics. According to LiuGong, its battery-electric machines are priced below competing battery-electric models while reducing operating costs by approximately 40 to 50 percent compared with comparable diesel equipment. Lower energy consumption, fewer service requirements and simplified maintenance help reduce TC O throughout the machine's operating life.

Those performance and operating cost advantages are the result of more than 20 years of battery research and development and more than 15 years of commercial electric equipment experience. Continuous operational data from real-world applications has driven improvements in battery performance, charging systems, thermal management, diagnostics, software, serviceability, and long-term durability across multiple generations of LiuGong battery-electric equipment.

Engineered specifically for North America
Successfully deploying battery-electric equipment in the United States and Canada required far more than changing charging connectors.

LiuGong engineers adapted the platform to North American charging standards, electrical infrastructure, software requirements, safety certifications, environmental conditions, and dealer service practices to ensure compatibility with regional operating environments. The result is equipment engineered for dependable operation, seamless charging integration, and simplified serviceability across a wide range of North American jobsites.

Intelligent battery management for maximum uptime
At the core of every LiuGong battery-electric machine is a liquid-cooled Battery Management System (BMS) built around an advanced Cell-to-Pack battery architecture.

The battery management system continuously monitors battery health, state of charge, charging, thermal performance, diagnostics and safety systems to optimize battery performance, maximize service life, and support long-term fleet uptime.

Warranty reflects proven experience
LiuGong backs its battery-electric portfolio with warranty coverage developed through decades of battery engineering and validated by millions of commercial operating hours. Warranty coverage varies by product category.

Battery-electric construction equipment includes:

  • Complete machine: 3 years or 4,000 operating hours
  • Transmission, axles, and hydraulic components: 5 years or 7,000 operating hours
  • Battery packs, electric drive motors, and hydraulic drive motors: 5 years or 10,000 operating hours

Battery-electric Li-ion forklifts are backed by one of the industry's strongest warranty programs, including:

  • Complete machine: 3 years or 6,000 operating hours
  • Powertrain, drive motor, electric motor, and controllers: 5 years or 10,000 operating hours
  • Lithium-ion power battery: 10 years or 20,000 operating hours

These warranty programs reflect LiuGong's confidence in its battery-electric technology after years of commercial deployment across global markets.

Built on proven performance
"Customers shouldn't have to choose between proven performance and zero-emission technology," says Andrew Ryan, president of LiuGong North America. "Our battery-electric platform has already proven itself through millions of commercial operating hours around the world. Now we're bringing that experience to North America with machines engineered specifically for this market and backed by years of commercial operation."

With more than 60,000 battery-electric machines operating globally, millions of operating hours accumulated in real-world applications, and an expanding portfolio designed specifically for North America, LiuGong is bringing contractors, fleet owners, ports, municipalities, and industrial operators a mature electric platform built on years of commercial experience rather than first-generation technology.
