Virnig expands
Virnig Manufacturing expands operations with new facility in Fort Madison, Iowa.
Virnig Manufacturing has purchased a new facility in Fort Madison, Iowa. This expansion marks another significant milestone in the company’s continued growth and long-standing commitment to serving the equipment industry.
The Fort Madison facility will support increasing demand for Virnig products while enhancing operational capacity and improving service to customers across North America. Existing operations in Rice, Minnesota and Pikeville, Tennessee will continue to play a vital role in the company’s manufacturing footprint.
“As demand for our products continues to grow, expanding our capabilities is essential to maintaining the level of service and quality our customers expect,” says Dean Virnig, Owner. “The Fort Madison facility positions us well for the future while reinforcing our commitment to the industry.”
Virnig Manufacturing plans to begin hiring for multiple positions in the Fort Madison area as the facility prepares to become operational, creating new opportunities and strengthening its presence in the region. This expansion is also about people, with a focus on welcoming team members who want to grow with the company and be part of a workplace where they feel supported, valued, and connected to meaningful work.
Founded in 1989 by Dean and Lois Virnig, the company began in a two-car garage outside of Pierz, Minnesota, performing repair work for local farmers and construction companies. Driven by a reputation for quality workmanship and dependable service, the business quickly expanded into manufacturing skid steer attachments and dump trailers.
Over the decades, Virnig has steadily grown its operations through multiple facility expansions and investments in advanced manufacturing capabilities. A state-of-the-art facility in Rice, Minnesota was established in 2001, followed by continued expansions in 2010, 2014, and 2021 to support welding, engineering, and finishing operations. In 2021, the company further expanded its footprint with the purchase of a 62,000-square-foot facility in Pikeville, Tennessee, which became operational in early 2022.
Today, Virnig Manufacturing designs and produces a full line of attachments for skid steers, mini skid steers, compact tractors, compact wheel loaders and mini excavators. In 2025, the company re-entered the trailer market with the launch of its Hydraulic Drop Deck trailer, expanding its product offering while continuing its tradition of innovation and product development.
Today, Virnig’s facilities encompass all aspects of the manufacturing process. From engineering and cutting raw materials to machining, welding, and painting, Virnig manufactures all of its attachments and trailers in-house.
While the company has grown significantly since its founding, its core mission remains unchanged: to deliver high-quality, durable products that meet the needs of hardworking equipment operators.
