Alert Rental Software announces ARA Taxonomy integration

Alert Rental Software offers new functionality that integrates the American Rental Association (ARA) ARA Standard Equipment Taxonomy (SET) directly into the Alert platform.

Developed in collaboration with ARA, this enhancement allows rental companies to seamlessly align their equipment data with the industry-standard ARA equipment classification system.

The new ARA Taxonomy interface enables Alert users to automatically import ARA taxonomy data - such as segment, level classifications, unit of measure and related parameters directly into fixed asset records. By leveraging standardized manufacturer and model information, rental businesses can ensure greater accuracy and consistency across asset records, reporting, and analytics.

“Standardized equipment data is critical for meaningful benchmarking, reporting, and communication across the rental industry,” says Mary Crosslin, co-president and COO at Alert Rental Software. “Our collaboration with the American Rental Association ensures Alert customers can easily adopt the ARA Standard Equipment Taxonomy within their daily workflows, saving time while improving data quality.”

Key benefits of the new functionality include:

  • Direct ARA Taxonomy integration at the fixed-asset level
  • Flexible import options for individual assets, rental groups, or entire fleets
  • Improved reporting and analytics through consistent industry classifications
  • Reduced manual data entry and easier identification of data exceptions
  • Alignment with ARA standards, supporting industry-wide consistency

Rental companies can run the ARA interface for individual assets or perform bulk imports across their fleets, with clear visibility into successful and unsuccessful matches. Built-in reporting highlights assets that may require manufacturer or model adjustments to align with ARA standards.

“While Alert has offered data import and export capabilities for many years, we expanded our tools in anticipation of this integration to include broad-scope equipment renumbering, default data sets for new rental businesses or new Alert Rental Software clients, expanded fixed-asset database fields, and enhanced reporting. We are very excited about leading the way with ARA in this very important industry mission.”, says Crosslin.

“Similar to when ARA created the standard for rental industry metrics, with ARA SET we are establishing the standard for categorizing assets for equipment rental companies with a logical product category classification system,” says Tony Conant, ARA chief executive officer. “ARA worked with rental industry experts and members large and small to develop this important classification schema.”

The ARA Taxonomy integration is available now to Alert Rental Software customers. Setup requires ARA-issued credentials, and the functionality is designed to scale for fleets of all sizes.
