Generator updates

Atlas Copco Power Technique is updating its QAS 250 and QAS 330 generators with a more powerful John Deere 6090 engine.

In engineering these models, Atlas Copco focused on the overall product quality, user friendliness, ease of service and economical operation resulting in best in class total cost of ownership.

Atlas Copco QAS 330 portable generator
Both generators feature a John Deere 9-liter, 6-cylinder Tier 4 Final diesel engine. The QAS 250 runs at 290 horsepower, while the QAS 330 (pictured) operates at 399 horsepower.

The generators are designed to be versatile for several applications including construction, the oil field and special events. Both units are built with the same characteristics as the rest of the QAS line.

Construction
These compact machines feature powder-coated steel that is corrosion resistant and has a unique foam and layering system inside the doors to ensure water-tightness and improve sound attenuation. They also have 110 percent fluid containment, so they are extremely durable and environmentally sensitive. The units come in a standard dual-axle trailer or optional skid mount with forklift pockets.

Engine
Both generators feature a John Deere 9-liter, 6-cylinder Tier 4 Final diesel engine. The QAS 250 runs at 290 horsepower, while the QAS 330 operates at 399 horsepower.

The units have an AREP alternator excitation system that is a great solution for the most demanding jobsites that need motor starting, providing startup power with 300 percent overcurrent starting capabilities coupled to the engine’s capacity to stand a 100 percent load step.

The internal 385-gallon fuel tank runs for 34 hours at 75 percent load on the QAS 250 and nearly 26 hours at 75 percent load on the QAS 330.

Serviceability
Wire routing is neat, clean and service friendly and allows for easy access through large access doors and panels. Heavy-duty oil, air and fuel filters extend the maintenance interval to 500 hours and a reduced total cost of ownership.

Safety
The QAS 250 and 330 are equipped with an emergency stop for increased safety. A remote signal start and stop allows connection as a critical backup unit via a two-wire dry contact connection in the distribution panel.

Controller
Equipped with a DeepSea 7310 control module, the controller is fully diagnostic with its large three-inch display. It is intuitive and easy to operate with all functions conveniently at the operator’s fingertips.

An optional paralleling controller includes a unique touch screen display and can link up to 32 generators of any size, working in Power Management Mode.
