Superlift's Uplift truck-mounted lift puts a 22-foot working height and 1,700 pounds of capacity  on a Toyota Land Cruiser.

A contractor's work is at height, and never in the same place twice. Superlift South Inc. introduces its Uplift heavy-duty truck-mounted lift for contractors and rental companies: a scissor lift built to fit the modified Toyota Land Cruiser.

It puts a crew at a 22-foot working height — 16 feet of platform height — with 1,700 pounds of platform capacity for two workers, tools and materials. No trailer, no towing, no waiting on a rental yard or scaffold crew.

Setup takes minutes. Hydraulic outriggers deploy in 120 seconds and the scissor mechanism raises a full load in 59 seconds, with smooth inching from a push-button control station and an emergency stop. The 65- x 57-inch platform has safety rails, kick plates and a swing-out safety door. The unit stows 4½ inches high on the truck bed, so the truck still parks like a truck.

It is built for work contractors bill for every week: bridge contract work, including repair underneath the deck; sign installation and repair; gas station canopy and light service; electrical and mechanical work at height; and general light repair. A 22-foot working height reaches under bridge decks, canopies and signs; 1,700 lb sends parts and materials up with the crew. One unit earns on every kind of job; for rental companies, it rents out for bridge work one day, lighting the next. Power is a 12-volt battery system with a 2 kW hydraulic powerpack and a 1 horsepower 12 volt DC motor.

“A contractor's work is 20 feet up and all over the map,” says Gerry Erwin, president of Superlift South Inc. “Bridge work Monday, a sign Tuesday, canopy lights Wednesday. Today that means scaffolding or a rented bucket truck. This lift lives on the truck and goes job to job; in about a minute the crew is working at 22 feet with 1,700 pounds of tools and parts aboard. It earns instead of sitting, and a rental yard can rent the same unit out every day of the week. That is the whole idea.”

The lift can be provided with or without the Toyota Land Cruiser complete on the truck, ready to work, or on its own for mounting on a truck the company already runs. Superlift engineers can do custom configurations to order.
