The MTA 844 offers a maximum lifting capacity of 8,000 pounds, a maximum lifting height of 43 feet and 6 inches, and a maximum outreach of 29 feet and 9 inches. It is powered by a 127-horsepower Tier 4 Deutz diesel engine and five-speed power shift transmission.
Manitou designed the MTA 844 with operator safety and comfort in mind. This construction telehandler features a SuperView cab design for increased line of sight (approximately 30 percent better) to the forks and load, along with an Easy Step curved cab floor and cut-out design that provides clear visibility of the step for entry and exit.
The machine also includes a high-visibility orange seat belt that makes it easy to verify operator use and a backup alarm to alert crew members on the job site that the MTA 844 is in operation.
This construction telehandler also features a Manitou-exclusive automatic parking brake that secures the machine when it is still running. While traveling at slow speeds, the operator simply places the machine in neutral and within two seconds, the parking brake engages automatically.
Manitou mounted a multi-function F-N-R joystick to the seat to simplify use and improve operator comfort, and included a digital display with more than 50 messages to guide the operator. The MTA 844 has a stability system that allows the operator to re- position the machine within a restricted range and offers four steering modes: front wheel, four wheel, crab and mani-crab.
The MTA 844 is compatible with a full line of attachments, including buckets, fork carriages truss booms and work platforms that are easily installed via the Manitou Dynattach quick-attach system.
