Atlas Copco Power Technique has launched a new user-friendly solar-powered LED light tower, the HiLight S2+, which enables users to reduce CO2 emissions by up to six tons compared with traditional technologies.

The HiLight S2+ is a next-generation lighting system featuring 4x90W LED floodlights to deliver 21,527 square feet of light coverage. The latest light tower from Atlas Copco uses solar radiation as an energy source, providing silent and cleaner operations. The light tower is robust, easy to transport and comes ready to use. The lights can be easily maneuvered into place and solar panels set up; they are simply pulled out from the canopy and their position can be adjusted to best align with the sun’s location to achieve maximum solar yield.

The HiLight S2+ is a reliable light source independent of fuel provisioning, charging during the day for use in low-light or overnight construction hours. There are no external cables or refueling required. Moreover, the system features an external control panel and the lights have a dimming function to prevent light and energy from being wasted unnecessarily, which further increases autonomy.

The new solar light tower provides autonomous operation where solar yield is greater than energy demand. In cases where energy demand is higher than solar yield, for example during winter months, the tower can also be charged with Atlas Copco’s Energy Storage Systems or any external power grid, achieving a total green and clean solution. Batteries can be recharged with solar energy in eight hours or an external power source in just three hours.

The HiLight S2+ light tower has also been designed with a pop-up canopy for better serviceability. The minimal maintenance needs help reduce downtime and operational costs, while allowing site managers to realize operational cost savings and achieve a quick return on investment.

“Users can easily accomplish a work shift of 11 hours with the HiLight S2+ reliable light source with hardly any CO2 emissions and noise,” says Félix Gómez, Atlas Copco divisional product marketing manager for light towers. “At Atlas Copco, we are dedicated to delivering sustainable value. We develop long-lasting products to extend life cycle and reduce the impact on the environment, and this new light tower is a great example of this.”

The HiLight S2+ light tower offers a robust alternative to temporary diesel lighting for end users and rental companies operating in infrastructure, construction projects, mining, oil and gas, and event sites. Since the light tower works at temperatures from 23F to 122F and can operate reliably at high altitudes without derating, it is also ideal for remote work sites.
