Providing high speed and accurate surface preparation, General Equipment Company’s gas-powered Hellcat surface planer is ideal for a wide range of job applications, including milling misaligned sidewalks and joints, removing thermo and cold plastic markings and prepping floors for new coating applications.

Powered by a 9.0-horsepower Honda GX270 4-stroke gasoline engine, the model SP8/GH9HP planer is built with a unitized, welded steel-plate frame, exclusive full-length hexagon driveshaft and externally greased extra-capacity ball bearings. The planer has a maximum cutting depth of 5/8 inches, a cutting width of 8 inches and a cutting proximity to a vertical wall of 3 1/4 inches. An industry standard 3-inch diameter dust collection port is provided for use with industrial-type dust control systems.

For precision cutting, the unit features the Quik-Pitch lever/drum engagement system with a separate fine-adjustment control. The exclusive drum-forward design with Pow-R-Pivot steering configuration was specifically developed for sidewalk trip-and-fall hazard removal projects. This combination makes it significantly easier to quickly change direction, pivot unit side-to-side and feather areas in a radial fashion and/or from all angles without having to lift the machine and reposition.

The planer is extremely well-balanced compared to center-mount drum designs, where drums are mounted between front and back casters. The weight-forward design increases material removal rates, penetrating/removing surface irregularities better in comparison to center drum designs that tend to scalp high spots, reducing removal rates and overall productivity.

Refined weight and balance also enhance operator control and machine maneuverability while reducing stress, strain and fatigue and increasing operator safety.

Ergonomics are further improved with the Back-Saver drum cut-depth system that allows for fast, on-the-fly adjustment with no bending or stooping.

Equipment also offers electric-powered surface planer models.
