New compact model completes tasks typically suited for traditional skid steer loaders.


Charles Machine Works Company, adds the Ditch Witch SK1550, the largest and most powerful mini skid steer model in its compact track loader line.

The SK1550 offers 1,558-pound rated operating capacity, which is more than 50 percent higher capacity than all other mini skid steers in its size class.

Its 44-hp. Tier 4 Yanmar diesel engine directs 34.5 hp. to the attachment, allowing the machine to complete tasks typically suited for traditional skid steer loaders, including tree handling and sod transfer. Equipped with an available auxiliary flow control with low, medium and high settings, operators can adjust flow to match attachment requirements.

The SK1550 offers 1,558-pound rated operating capacity, which is more than 50 percent higher capacity than all other mini skid steers in its size class. Equipped with a 94-inch hinge-pin height, the SK1550 provides operators loading and unloading flexibility.

It offers the smoothest ride in the industry, sources report, with superior maneuverability and stability on rough terrain while carrying heavy loads. It can travel up to 4.7 mph in forward and reverse. Optional dual-auxiliary connections can power advanced attachments for better productivity when handling heavier loads, such as logs, trees or sod.

A 74 square-inch ergonomic operator platform comes standard with dual-lever ground drive controls, allowing the operator to independently control each track for precise mobility. For additional ease-of-use, an optional, single joystick control is also available. Additionally, the SK1550’s durable design has no daily grease fittings, simplifying maintenance and reducing total cost of ownership.
