Generator updates
Atlas Copco Power Technique updates the QAS 250 and QAS 330 generators with a more powerful John Deere 6090 engine. They feature powder-coated steel that is corrosion resistant. A unique foam and layering system inside the doors ensure water-tightness and improved sound attenuation. They have 110 percent fluid containment and are available in a standard dual-axle trailer or optional skid mount with forklift pockets. The units have an AREP alternator excitation system that provides 300 percent overcurrent starting capabilities coupled to the engine’s capacity to withstand a 100 percent load step. The internal 385-gallon fuel tank can power the unit for 34 hours at 75 percent load on the QAS 250 and nearly 26 hours at 75 percent load on the QAS 330. A remote-signal start and stop allows connection as a critical backup unit via a two-wire dry contact connection in the distribution panel. With its Deep Sea 7310 control module, the controller is fully diagnostic, intuitive and easy to operate. An optional paralleling controller can link up to 32 generators of any size, working in Power Management Mode.

Tier 4 182 kW generator
Caterpillar introduces the 182 kW Cat XQ230 60 Hz mobile diesel generator set that meets Tier 4 Final emission standards for prime operation. The model is 11 percent smaller than the previous model, operates at lower noise levels than competitive packages and is equipped with rental-ready features including heaters, a battery charger and a permanent magnet generator (PMG). An optional 600-volt generator is available, giving the operator ultimate flexibility with a single unit capable of producing power at 600, 480, 240 and 208 volts. Caterpillar’s diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration strategy ensures seamless operation even at low loads or in cold weather. Regeneration is transparent to the operator and the unit does not need to be taken offline. The Cat XQ230 is equipped with the standard EMCP 4.2B control panel. A user-friendly interface allows for engine and generator monitoring and control. Automatic paralleling controls are available; Cat Connect technology can track and manage the machine remotely.

Improved telematics
Allmand Bros., Inc. has incorporated the Deep Sea Electronics controller on its Maxi-Power 25 mobile generator that offers in-depth data for improved fleet management. The control module has a clear display showing all operating parameters, including warnings, shutdown and engine status. All operations and parameters are now located on a back-lit LCD screen with controller-illuminated LEDs and can be accessed through convenient menu navigation. Diagnostic codes are available for improved system maintenance and monitoring. Maintenance hours, error logs, and trending problems can be accessed through the module, showing current and historical status information with a real-time clock for accurate event logging. Multiple date and time scheduler with configurable event logging allow maintenance periods to be configured for optimal engine performance and protect the generator.

Dual-phase 23kW 480-volt generator
The Makinex dual-phase 23kW 480-volt generator has unique alternator configuration that allows it to power 120 and 480 volts simultaneously with no loss on either circuit. It is capable of producing 23kW from the three-phase and 3kW from single-phase power at the same time without any power or frequency dips. The generator is only 36 inches x 25 inches x 36 inches, making it the smallest dual-phase 23kW 480V generator available.

Portable battery bank
The Powr2 Powrbank HES-30.60 is an industrial-grade portable battery bank that works with diesel generators to reduce engine runtime and consequently emissions, fuel consumption and maintenance costs. It has a nominal power output capacity of 30kVA and 60kWH of Lithium Ion Life PO4 energy storage. The unit is installed between the generator and the electrical load with standard cam connectors or hardwired to optional busbars. Once connected, the load is served from stored energy until either the stored energy is depleted or the load demand exceeds the Powrbank capacity; at which point the Powrbank starts the generator to power the load and recharge the bank. The batteries typically take 2 to 3 hours to recharge; in most cases, this is the only period that the generator must run. The unit’s onboard ECM (Energy Control Module) collects, stores and transmits data from all connected devices including inverters, batteries, diesel gensets, PV, air quality sensors and many more. The Powr2 ECM is fully customizable and its router has 24/7 online remote access, sending live data to the POWR2 Portal so metrics can be tracked over time.

Industrial inverter generator
Honda Power Equipment introduces its EB220i inverter generators that deliver 10 percent more power (200 watts) than the EU2000i product family it replaces. The Honda EB2200i maintains key performance attributes of the new EU2200i—including 10 percent more power —while adding a 125 volt/20 amp GFCI receptacle that provides greater flexibility for most work site applications and meeting OSHA requirements. It has Honda’s fuel-efficient Eco-Throttle feature that allows the generator to conserve fuel by varying engine speed to produce only the power required to operate the equipment. The EB2200i can operate up to 8.1 hours on less than one gallon of gas, allowing the potential for working all day without interruption.

25 kW portable generator
The TecnoGen 30kVA generator uses a Kohler engine coupled to an industry-standard Leroy Somer alternator producing 25kW of prime power. Offered by FTG Equipment, its standard features include camlocks, block heater and battery charger. The Deep Sea controller makes retrieving vital stats such as fuel levels, run time and start logs easy. It is outfitted with sealed doors and 2-inch thick insulation throughout gives this model a 68dBA rating. The internal fuel capacity is 47 gallons allowing for a run time of 38 hours at 75 percent load. The convenient external fuel hook-up allows for quick connection to an additional fuel cell if needed. TecnoGen’s Enermax series, 30kVA through 1250kVA, is built for reliability and is ideal for continuous heavy-duty applications. Available in trailer or skid-mounted configurations.

Hydraulically driven AC generator
Fabco Power has released its 12 kW 120/208-volt three-phase generator that can power a 275-amp welder on boom lifts, scissor lifts or telehandlers. The generators are built with 50 amp per phase circuit breakers and are light in weight. They are plug-and-play models that are compact and maintenance free.
