Acme Lift names president

Former Volvo Rents executive Mike Crouch has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Acme Lift Co., bringing more than 35 years of rental experience to the wholesale aerial platform rental company.

Woody Weld remains chairman and chief executive officer of Acme.

Crouch most recently served as Volvo Rents’ vice president of business development, and in a long rental career has also worked for Hertz Equipment Rental Corp, U.S. Rentals and United Rentals.

In 2002, he became vice president of Volvo Rents Europe and a member of the company’s European management team. In 2004, he returned to the U.S. as vice president of operations for North America.

For the last three years, he was Volvo Rents’ vice president of business development, focusing on mergers and acquisitions as the company expanded to 132 locations and into a national rental company in less than two years.

His appointment at Acme follows just a month after Volvo Rents was sold by Volvo to private equity company Platinum Equity.

Crouch started his rental career with Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. in 1978 in Seattle as a sales coordinator and within two years rose to regional vice president. Between 1981 and 1995, he worked at U.S. Rentals, MQ Power and HERC in California and Texas, in operations and sales management. In 1995, he returned to U.S. Rentals as a division manager and stayed aboard when U.S. Rentals was acquired by United Rentals.
