Bomag BW 138 AD-5 tandem vibratory roller

Tandem roller with Economizer
The Bomag BW 138 AD-5 tandem vibratory roller is the perfect all-round roller for paving contractors and municipalities, Bomag sources report. Its 54.3-inch rolling width makes short work of granular soil and asphalt compaction, efficiently tackling projects ranging from parking lot paving to county road repair to compaction of urban street developments. The Economizer compaction measurement system alerts operators to compaction progress of the soil or asphalt material, reducing passes and saving time and money. A 35.4-inch drum diameter delivers more drum/surface impact area than smaller compactors, which reduces rolling resistance, delivers a smoother surface finish and improves asphalt mat quality. Front-only, rear-only or front-and-rear vibration mode operation allows the operator to adjust machine compaction output to job site conditions.

MBW AP2000 single-direction vibratory plate

Single-direction asphalt vibratory plate
MBW’s AP2000 single-direction vibratory plate is the only vibratory plate compactor specifically designed for asphalt applications, MBW sources report. Frequency, amplitude, centrifugal force and mass are all established at optimal levels for maximum productivity on asphalt. The mechanical construction of the AP2000 is specific to this very demanding application. Stress-relieved steel-plate housings are crack-resistant and provide long wear. Aluminum exciter housing dissipates heat rapidly and custom lubricants preserve bearing and seal integrity. The self-cleaning plate prevents dirt build-up.

Bobcat planer attachment

Cut and mill concrete and asphalt
Bobcat offers a planer attachment for its skid-steer loaders that mills surfaces with low-angle, high-velocity blows in a controlled pattern that uniformly chips pavement. Depth, width, and slope control are easily set and maintained by the operator. Milled material can be immediately recycled, nicely finishing any asphalt and repair jobs. The planer attachment is much less expensive to maintain and more maneuverable than dedicated planers.

Toro plate compactors

Plate compactors
Toro’s lineup of forward- and reversible-plate compactors are designed with a unique base geometry, optimal eccentric placement, amplitude and vibration speed that allow the unit to provide maximum compaction for stable, even surfaces. Also, a heavy-duty design protects the engine and machine components for extended life. Toro offers three models of forward-plate compactors with an eccentric force range of 2,200 to 4,000 pounds. Toro’s new line of reversible-plate compactors offer a centrifugal force range from approximately 4,950 to 14,160 pounds and feature hydraulic travel control with an innovative safety valve to offer overload protection and a longer product life.

Atlas Copco compactors

Maximum efficiency and productivity
Atlas Copco adds three compact-forward plate compactors — the LF60, LF75 and LF100 — that are light in weight and are optimize for ease of operation on soil and asphalt applications. Integrated water distribution systems and vibration-reduction handles help operators achieve maximum efficiency. The tubeless watering system helps prevent asphalt from sticking to the plate. The plates feature rounded edges, making it easier for the operator to turn while compacting in tight corners or near obstacles without leaving a mark. The units also offer relatively high centrifugal forces, making them ideal for compacting soil before paving a driveway or foot path, as well as for compacting patches of asphalt. The LF60 generates as much as 2,338 foot-pounds of force, the LF75 3,372 foot-pounds and the LF100 as much as 3,822 foot-pounds.
