Rental Solution: Incline climbers

E-Z Climber makes heavy moves safer and easier.

We’ve all been there, dreading to move large pieces of equipment, building supplies or furniture up – or down – several flights of stairs. It’s hard work, and can be dangerous.
That’s about to change with the advent of the E-Z Climber stair climber from Absolute E-Z Up Inc.

“The E-Z Climber is a unique piece of equipment. This stair climber can easily and safely move large, valuable and heavy objects up and down an incline or stairs with reduced manpower,” says Mike Buley, president of Absolute E-Z Up Inc.

“The E-Z Climber units reduce the risk of personal injury for professional or amateur movers. It can also minimize the risk of product or job site damage because it helps users maneuver large pieces with ease, even in narrow spaces,” Buley says.

The E-Z Climber comes in three distinct models: The 1300 model with robust tracks and a hydraulic lifter that safely conquers inclines, stairs and declines; the 1300/H, which can move product up or down stairways and steep terrain while maintaining a horizontal hydraulic platform so the item(s) being carried remain flat throughout the ascent or descent; and the 1300/V, which allows the worker to position the control box and button controls so the unit can be operated as a walk-behind unit. Its vertical hydraulic platform allows a worker to single-handedly raise the platform into vertical position, secure the load, then lower the platform back to starting position on any type of terrain. It also allows the operator to stay above the unit load as it is moved up or down stairs or an incline.

Safety first
First and foremost, the E-Z Climber incline climbers assist in worker safety. “It greatly eases moving such cumbersome products and helps avoid damage to the valuable products being moved. End users and rental centers benefit by supplying a safety-first solution to moving, reducing manpower and possible liability risk. It also supplies a unique and profitable rental solution,” Buley says.

An injured worker is either placed on leave or given light-duty tasks, so managers either have to hire someone else, which increases cost, or reassign staff, which requires extra time spent on training and getting other employees up to speed.”

Buley reports the E-Z Climber has been used to move heavy equipment, such as safes and vaults, refrigerators and other appliances, pianos, boilers, furnaces, electric panels, transformers, construction equipment, counterweights, vending and beverage machines. “It can move virtually any large product up to 1,322 pounds,” he says. “It solves the challenge of moving things in tight spaces or moving very heavy and bulky items without fear of being dropped. It reduces the chance of personal injury to workers.”

The battery-powered units charge within hours and when fully charged, provides hours of safe and continual work without any drop-off of performance.

Buley says target customers are wide and varied. “Rental centers could approach moving companies, piano companies, furniture and appliance movers for just a start. We have seen cases where the rental revenue of an E-Z Climber has given a return of 10 percent of the acquisition cost in just one day.”
