The key is to have clean, ready-to-rent equipment.

It’s the height of the summer busy season. Business has been good and projections are positive that it will continue to be upbeat.

Most rental houses are experiencing improved revenue as contractors take on more work and are becoming more sophisticated in their business approach, looking at ways to cut costs to beef up the bottom line through equipment rentals.

Still, too many contractors look at equipment purchases to accomplish that work. But if contractors looked at their total cost of ownership vs. the total cost associated with a rental unit, it doesn’t take too many spreadsheet iterations to show the economic advantage of renting.

Now is the time to state your case to construction contractors about the benefits of renting equipment. When you lay down the numbers, then reinforce the turnkey nature of maintenance and that the payments go away when the equipment is no longer needed, you may very well pick up even more business.

The key is to have clean, ready-to-rent equipment that holds the promise of few problems in the field, coupled with operator training that shares safe and productive operating tips. That’s what sets our cover story rental center, Midway Rentals and Sales, apart from its competitors. It has a reputation for clean, reliable equipment backed up by knowledgeable and experienced sales and maintenance staff. That commitment to a high level of service has allowed the company to double its annual rental sales since 2005.

You’ll also find in this issue insight into compact track loaders, which can go into places that would mire a skid-steer loader. We also feature compact track loaders that could be excellent additions to your rental fleet.

In this issue, we also highlight new power washers and a variety of compactors that could flesh out your rental feet. We also highlight remote-controlled demolition equipment, which may make sense if your customers are heavily into repair-rebuild-replace-type jobs.

We greatly enjoy sharing the success stories of how rental firms have helped customers solve construction issues with rental equipment. If you have any stories you’d like to share, please contact me at curbain@urbaincomm.com or call me at (866) 214.3223 ext. 130.
