Deutz will provide JLG with its Xchange remanufactured engines for JLG’s aerial work platform (AWP) reconditioning program. The partnership ties Deutz Xchange engine warranty with JLG's strict reconditioning efforts, the companies state.

JCB Expands Dealer Network
Buck & Knobby Equipment, headquartered in Ottawa Lake, Michigan, is now a JCB dealer for northwest Ohio. The company is building a designated JCB dealership in Holland, Ohio later this year.

Construction Employment Continues to Climb 
In the past year, 44 states and the District of Columbia added construction jobs, according to analysis of Labor Department data by the Associated General Contractors of America. The AGC also pointed out that construction employment increased in 28 states between February and March.

Sales of Newly-Built Home Sales Dip Slightly
Sales of newly built, single-family homes slipped 1.5 percent in March, off from the upwardly-revised February numbers. This puts new home sales at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 511,000 units, according to newly released data by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau.

Home Construction Slides in March

Housing starts dropped 8.8 percent in March and permits slid 7.7 percent for the month, according to the Commerce Department. Construction of new homes fell in March by the largest amount in five months, with weakness in all regions of the country except the Northeast.

JCB Rolls Out 200,000th Loadall
In what the company calls a milestone in materials handling history, JCB celebrated producing its 200,000th Loadall telehandler. The Loadall has provided materials handling and lifting solutions for construction, agricultural and industrial markets for almost four decades. 

New Regional Business Manager at Takeuchi
Takeuchi-US has hired Paul Wade as Midwest regional business manager, effective immediately. New to the company, Wade has years of experience in the compact equipment market as a sales and marketing manager. 

Cooper Equipment Joins Atlas Copco Dealer Network
Cooper Equipment Co. of San Antonio, Texas, will now sell, rent and service Atlas Copco Dynapac pavers as well as soil and asphalt rollers in central Texas. The dealership will also offer customer service and training for its asphalt and road construction equipment.

Q2 Outlook Forecasts 2.7% Growth in Equipment, Software Investment
Investment in equipment and software is expected to grow 2.7 percent in 2016, according to the Q2 update to the 2016 Equipment Leasing & Finance U.S. Economic Outlook released today by the Equipment Leasing & Finance Foundation. The Foundation lowered its 2016 forecast to 2.7 percent, down from 4.4 percent growth forecasted in December 2015.

Manitou awarded Transport Equipment Sales and Bader and Sons Co. as top dealers. Gehl's Top Dealer Awards went to Alta Equipment and Custom Truck & Equipment. Mustang's top dealer was A Top Notch Equipment Inc. 

Dodge Momentum Index Takes a Dip
The Dodge Momentum Index fell 7 percent in March to 117.4. The index measures initial reports of nonresidential building projects in planning, a leading indicator of nonresidential construction. The decline in March is the first setback for the Index following three months of gains.

Texas State Rentals has added to its equipment offering select models of Gehl and Mustang equipment. Texas State Rentals provides expert sales and service to southeastern Texas with locations in Tomball, New Braunfels, and Halletsville.

Solar Technologies Supports Work Zone Awareness 
In 2014, there were 26 fatalities in work zones on Pennsylvania roads. From 2003 thru 2010, there were 962 worker fatalities in construction sites on the nation’s highways. To honor highway workers, Solar Technology, a manufacturer of traffic safety signs located in Allentown, PA, is donating $1000 to the American Traffic Safety Services Association’s Foundation to fund scholarships for children of highway workers killed in work zones.

The Genie Aerial Pros site is dedicated to educating the aerial industry on important subjects, such as upcoming changes to ANSI and CSA standards, safety and training, service, product introductions and new applications.

2016 Florida Auctions Show Decline in Heavy Equipment Volume
An analysis of Florida "mega auctions" shows year over year trends in volume, age and price for backhoe loaders, 4WD articulated wheel loaders, telehandlers, electric scissor lifts and tracked excavators, notes Brian Lee, data analyst for EquipmentWatch. While the auction companies reported record sales this year, popular construction and lift equipment shows an overall decline. 

Continental Abrasives Hires New National Sales Manager
Continental Abrasives has hired Frank Humphreys as national sales manager to continue growing the company's base of national accounts and help to expand the current marketing strategies. Humphreys previously worked with Granquartz, a supplier of stone and concrete tools, as their Western Regional Sales Manager.

Ransomware Viruses Pose Risk
Ransomware is malicious code or a computer virus that denies users access to their own data, encrypting it and holding it until the user pays a ransom. Users can choose between restoring a backup of their ransomed data, try to decrypt it, accept losing the data or paying the ransom. 

CSTK JCB Opens Kansas City Location
CSTK JCB has opened a new, dedicated JCB sales, service and rental facility in Kansas City, Kansas. CSTK is a Thermo King dealer with 13 locations in the United States. The company serves transportation companies, fleets, owner operators and other vehicle/heavy equipment users with units, parts and services for their operations.

Manitou Americas' "Next Big Thing" Dealer Event
Manitou Americas held its "Next Big Thing" dealer event last month at the company's West Bend, Wis., headquarters. More than 190 people attended from dealerships throughout the U.S. and Canada.  

Used Equipment, Auction Sales Decrease
Used equipment prices, notes the Rouse Rental Report, decreased 0.7 percent from January values. Now in the tenth consecutive month of decline, the February Rouse Value Index slipped to 43.6.

Freddie Mac Forecasts Good Year for Housing
Freddie Mac's March forecast, released March 31, says 2016 will be the best year for housing in a decade. The forecast includes housing starts, total home sales and house prices. The forecast bodes well for remodeling and for new home construction.
